We started off the New Year with a "Blind" wine tasting event where members were challenged to guess the grape and country of various wines. Mark Williams was particularly good, unlike the Greek Retsina, which was particularly bad! It was good to see some of our cricket members joining in with the event again.
Friday 5th July was our own version of the Tour de France - in wine, cider and a lovely but strong apple drink!!! !5 members and guests enjoyed the warm evening, sitting out at the Cricket Club, being guided around French wines by local wine merchant Duncan Murray. There was also some food, and tennis updates!
Everyone enjoyed the night and hopefully the good weather will continue so that we can do the same for the next tasting in September.
Friday 28th June Market Harborough Squash & Racketball Club hosted a Touring side from Inverness, The Inverness Squash Club British Grand Prix Tour.
The Inverness Club combine each year a visit to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone with some friendly Squash. Last year, the terrible weather on the Friday at Silverstone had meant the Inverness team were stranded at the course, so everyone was thankful this year for better weather.
The event was organised by former Daventry players, Dave Humpage who now plays at Inverness and Jon Maynard, now playing at Market Harborough.
The Scottish players were joined by some other Daventry players, to play a series of games against the Fairfield Road club. Fifteen games were played in all, including one doubles game, with the Market Harborough Club coming out victorious. The evening finished off with food and some musical entertainment from Market Harborough Club’s Andy Fraser and his band, with guest vocalist, Lizzie Turney, another Harborough Club player.
The Harborough Club are now planning a return tour to Scotland!

Last Saturday we had our now annual Cocktail, Casino and Canapes Night. Thanks go, once again to The Cocktail Shaker Boys for providing some great cocktails and Mrs Bee's Kitchen for coming up with some gorgeous canapés to keep us going whilst being entertained by Messrs Pyle, Avil and Nycz and Mrs A our resident amateur (very amateur) croupiers! Great fun for everyone - and several coaches and parents were glad they didn't have to get up for 9am coaching this year!
