Welcome to Market Harborough Squash & Racketball Club – Junior Coaching
We’re delighted that your child is interested in our Junior Coaching Programme; thank you. Here at the Club we offer sessions based on your child’s ability and as such our coaching is tailored to encourage a child’s enthusiasm for the sport. While we work hard to instil the basics of the game in terms of technique, we also ensure that each session is fun, inclusive and benefits the child as a whole. All of our coaches have a minimum of a Level One Squash Coaching certificate, with several holding the more advanced Level Two. All coaches have completed Coaching UK’s Safeguarding course within the last 2 years and are DBS checked. And since 2009 we have held England Squash’s Silver Charter Mark, showing our commitment to developing the sports and our club.
Coaching takes place every Saturday during term time from 8.45am through to 12.30pm, with the Tots session starting the day and lasting 45 minutes; all other sessions are an hour. Junior Coaching is for those aged 3+ and currently we have 50 Juniors in membership. For the more advanced Junior players we also offer Academy coaching every other Friday. For details on which group would work for your child, please speak to Alison Avil.
Our expectations and your hopes:
As a Club run by experienced volunteers, many of us parents, we know what it’s like to support children – and as such we promise to provide a professional, instructive, enjoyable and safe coaching environment for your child. In return we ask that children arrive on time, in the correct footwear (clean, non-marking) and clothing, and with the right attitude. If they are too tired or ill, please keep them off court for a week, allowing other children to benefit from the sessions and your child time to recover. Water and toilet breaks are given but we ask children not to leave court too regularly or without informing the coach where they’re going.
All children are asked to sign in via the register (usually taken next to Court 4) and no child under the age of 14 is to be left at the Club unsupervised by a parent or guardian at any time. We ask parents not to take photos of children other than their own. On some occasions the Club may take pictures for marketing purposes, so please do inform Alison or any of the Coaches if your child is not to photographed or their image shared on social media/marketing.

Older Juniors can often be seen helping out with Coaching sessions as they’re working towards their D.of.E Awards.
Other members of the Cub also help out including Natalie Hunt, Olly Crick and Tom Paton.
