Former World Number 4 helps Junior Coaching Session
The Saturday morning coaching sessions at the Club have been fortunate enough to have two guest coaches in the first couple of weeks of 2015.
The first session, on the 10th January saw Chris Vine a level 3 coach from Essex, who was visiting the area, pop in and help out with the early sessions.
Then last Saturday, England’s Tania Bailey, a former British, European and World junior champion, and former world number 4, came along to help out. Tania, from Stamford, who has been working with some of the regional junior squads, helped out with several of the sessions and was very impressed with the juniors. She identified that many of them were good enough to be training with the regional squads.
The sessions were inspirational to both the juniors and the volunteer coaches at the Club. Chris Vine tweeted after his session “Really enjoyed it, you have a great bunch of juniors and lots of girls! Well done to all the team”.
The club has around 50 juniors, including 13 girls, coming along for coaching every Saturday morning and can’t wait until it has its extra two courts which are being built this year and will allow them to develop the coaching further. There is also after school sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
