The Finals Night started off with the Juniors finishing their competitions off. First up was the U12 Final featuring Bradley Crane (11) against young Max Wilson (8). Max relished playing the more senior player, and tried to learn from his experience, loosing 3-0 to Bradley, but Max will hope to be in a position next year where he can dominate the competiton for a few years!
Next up was the Boys main Final. This year with Jack Turney over in Australia, it meant there was going to be a new name on the board. Competing in the Final were Tim Arthur and Paddy Sadd, who have both played well for the teams this year. Tim, stayed as calm as ever, coming out winner 3-0.
The Final Junior final of the night was the U16 Final, which featured a rematch of the recent Junior Handicap Final, between Alistair Geear and Bradley Crane. Bradley came out of the blocks well, taking the first two games, Alistair came back from 10-7 match point down to take the third 12-10 and then the following two games and the title.
The Girls Final had taken place the previous weekend with Lulu Pemberton beating Charlotte Wilson 3-0.
Following the junior finals, the Seniors took centre stage. First up was the O55s featuring Steve Cousens and Steve Tew. In a best of 3 final, Steve Cousens worked hard to regain the title benefiting from errors from Steve Tew at critical points, winning 15-13, 15-11.
In the Ladies Final, Ruth Sleigh managed to retain her title, despite her car breaking down on the way and needing Kean Williams to be sent on a mercy mission to collect her. Lin Leach, also having a long journey to get to the evening, managed to take one game off Ruth, but Ruth proved to be too strong on the night. She now only needs one more victory, to equal Judy Moys number of titles.
In the Racketball Final, following some great games leading to the final, it , and as another battle of the Steve's, this time Steve Avil playing Steve Iles. In a closely competed match, and even the marker thought it was entertaining!, Steve Avil won 3-1, 15-13, 13-15, 15-10, 15-9.
Steve Iles then went on to his second final of the night, playing in the O40s Ken Martin Cup, against Kevin Lloyd. Unfortunately for Steve, Kevin Lloyd was on top form, winning 15-8, 15-8, 15-10.
The Final match of the Night was the Men's Closed Final with Martin Geear once again defending his title against Mark Christison. Mark played one of his more aggressive games, but unfortunately was up against Martin in some of his best form and the scoreline of 9-0, 9-0, 9-4 hides the quality and length of the games.
