Market Harborough Squash Club Juniors had a boost last Saturday when two world ranked players came along to help out with their coaching sessions. Emma Beddoes, ranked 34 on the Women’s world tour and Eddie Charlton, ranked 75 in the Men’s game, came along to the Fairfield Road club and took the juniors in their usual Saturday morning coaching sessions and were impressed with what they saw. Over 40 youngsters attend coaching sessions weekly at the club and the coaches have been delighted to have 34 of them entering their closed handicap competition this year, more than many counties let alone clubs have entering their tournaments.
The older juniors benefited from learning some of the court movement practices from Charlton whilst for the girls in the club it was good for them see a top woman in action.
The club coaches also benefited from sharing ideas with them from the practices they have picked up from training, coaching and playing across the world.
The two professionals chose the clubs junior players of the week which is given out to players who strive the most during their training sessions. They were thrilled to see how vibrant the club was, particularly the juniors, comparing it with some of the top clubs in the country.
