Instead of the usual Squash Coaching session last Saturday, Steve and Alison ran an internal graded tournament for the juniors with help from the parents.
In the first session, due to a junior team match, only one person was there from the B grade - thanks to Greg Burns for joining in with the C grade and winning all his matches, despite a handicap of -5, and yet giving the others a game. This showed a maturity that is great from our juniors.
The the rest of the C grade - Oscar Dean had a great morning, won all his Grade C matches, and together with all the others were very good at marking the games.
In the second session, we had an ambitious 20 youngsters competing in Grades D and E. All emotions were on display from happiness and excitement, to extreme nerves and disappointments (in both kids and parents!!) - thanks to the mums for being there to encourage, support and on occasion, cajole their children into playing! Thanks to the Dads for helping organise and score the games.
We had joint winners of the D grade - Harry Brown and James Aram, but they were closely followed by Miles Jacklin, who had an excellent morning winning all but one match (including beating his brother - I'm sure Will we be out for revenge next time!).
In the E group we had a great time with Millie Bairstow coming out winner, ahead of Amelia and Charlie Turner.
Well done to everyone and we look forward to the next event. Watch out on the junior website for the date!
