Market Harborough Squash & Racketball Club have recently heard they have been successful in securing two lots of funding to help them to strengthen the work the members are doing to increase opportunities for people to take up the sports.
We were one of only 19 sports clubs across the country to be awarded a Cash 4 Clubs grant. They awarded us £1000 to pay for more members to become squash and racketball coaches and to buy more equipment for the junior section. The Club currently runs coaching sessions on Saturday mornings for juniors from the age of 6, with 10 of their youngsters being selected for county squads.
The second funding has come from the Active Together Harborough scheme run in conjunction with Leicestershire and Rutland Sport, Leicestershire County and Rutland NHS, and Harborough District Council. The Club are going to be running racketball sessions for people to come and try on Saturday lunchtimes in the New Year. The hour long sessions will be run over an 8 week period from January 15th and are aimed at getting people who want to get fit but haven't tried racketball to come along and try it out. Racketball is played on a squash court but with slightly bigger rackets and balls. It's a great sport for all the family to try.
Anyone interested in coming along should get in touch coach Steve Avil, on 07715021313, or by email at email@example.com.
